This hike is a very good substitute for a bottom-legs-workout or if you want to prepare for a Mountaintoptour. We’ll start graduately along a road, but it won’t take long before we’ll come across a zig-zag-trail that will steeply take us up the mountain. The romantic Maisäßlandscape that is to typical for Montafon will be reached after a 1,5-hour ascent. The views on Schruns, Bartholomäberg and the mountains of the Rätikon are breathtaking. During a short well-deserved break, we can enjoy this in peace and quit.
From here the trails leads us past another small settlement, solitary privat mountainhuts and through the woods. The second possibility for a break is a managed mountainhut where you can order a Kaiserschmarr’n; a typical Austrian dish. If you never had it before: today you’ve earned it, but one portion is more than enough for two persons. After our energy reserves are back on track, we will continue our hike by descending over (dirt)roads and trails through the woods.
