This winter mountainhuttour in the Gauertal is fantastic to undertake! Daily you’ll snowshoehike 3 to 4 hours minimum in one of the most beautiful valleys of the Alps. Once we’ve arrived at the hut you can choose to relax and enjoy a hot coco at the “kamin-ofen” (a specific heatingsystem) or we can go out for another short hike so that you will have  really earned that heavy dessert “Kaiserschmarr’n

Day 1

From our meetingpoint at the trainstation in Schruns a taxi will take us to Berggasthof Grabs. Today we’ll get acquainted with the snowshoes as we hike towards the Gauertalhaus which is our first hut. Everything they offer is biological and regional and innkeeper  Daniel prepares the greatest dishes for us with love. After dinner we’ll gear up again and take a short hike in the moonlighted Gauertal and get enchanted by the magic of this snowy environment.

Day 2

The rich and biological breakfast is a good start for our second day. Today we  set course to the Lindauerhütte. This is a big hut at the end of the Gauertalvalley and is surrounded by high mountaintops such as Drei Türme and Sulzfluh. We hike through the Gauertal and try to keep far from the popular hikingroute to the hut. Maybe, just maybe we get to spot some mountaingoats on the higher rockformations!

In the afternoon we arrive at the hut where you get to choose: if you want to hang out and relax in the hut, you’re very welcome to do so. For who’s not tired yet we can go out again and check out the tourskiers skiing down from Switzerland.

Day 3

Breakfast at the Lindauer is absolutely luxurious with a great choice of breads, cheeses and yoghurts. We leave our big backpack here, for we will be returning at the hut. First, we go out for a hike with quite some altimeters up and down. At about lunchtime we’re back in the hut to and pick up our backpacks. We’ve done enough hiking though. We’ll return to the village on a sled! I’m certain you will feel that childlike enthusiasm again once you have started your way down. At the “Talstation” we will enjoy our last drink and bring this wonderful experience to an end. Public transportation takes us back to Schruns.
